Design duo Karim Tamerji and Elias El Hage, founders of multidisciplinary design studio Karim+Elias, will unveil their latest work, Strata, at the inaugural Downtown Design Riyadh, taking place from May 20-23, 2025. Echoing the iconic geometry of Diriyah’s Najdi architecture, the studio will unveil a modular, outdoor intervention made by hand in an homage to Riyadh’s heritage and craftsmanship, blending design, culture, and functionality.

Positioned in the main outdoor squares of JAX District, Strata blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, offering visitors an immersive experience that connects Riyadh’s past and present. Constructed using sand sourced directly from Saudi Arabia, the installation highlights Karim+Elias' commitment to material-driven artistry and site-responsive design. 

As one of the highlights of Downtown Design Riyadh’s public programme, Strata invites visitors to engage with the city’s cultural and architectural identity through a tactile, thoughtfully crafted experience.
