Presenting IBDAA At Downtown Design 2015

IBDAA (Arabic for ‘creativity’) is an online furniture platform based in Dubai.

The brand was co-founded by two American University of Dubai graduates, Marwa Al Shamry and Christelle Bitar, interior designers who share a passion for creating concept furniture inspired by different cultures and contemporary designs.

IBDAA are currently working on an exclusive side table cum storage piece for Downtown Design 2015 called 'BüNDEL' which they intend to reveal for the first time at the show. This piece is inspired by olden-day drifters that used a folded piece of cloth to wrap their belongings. According to the brand, the aim of this piece is to revive an item that has been forgotten in today's world, and turn it into a household element. The design of this piece comes down to just two essential components: wood and fabric. While maintaining a simple composition, IBDAA has created a multi-functional element that serves as a side table and storage space. The new piece is in-production right now and will be ready very soon, according to co-founder Christelle Bitar.

In addition to BüNDEL, the brand will be bringing along ‘Emiraty’ a bookshelf in the shape of the map of the UAE,

the ‘Moresque’ sofa, made of fabrics that reflect North African culture with their oriental motifs and vibrant colours,

and the ‘Orikami’ chair, inspired by the Japanese art of Origami and is in the form of a geometric horse:
