San Francisco Design Week Presents Hello Lumio

The user becomes a creator with Hello Lumio

Presenting a revolutionary new lighting design at this year’s Downtown Design, San Francisco Design Week showcases Hello Lumio, a versatile and sustainable product that aims to trigger the innate creativity in each of us.

The lamp is inspired by the structure of a book, one that can open out into various forms, creating a multifunctional everyday object. Placed anywhere, it brightens corners, can be mounted onto any surface, and lives happily both indoors and out – making it useful while evoking an emotional connection.

“When we see a lighting devise we always see it as a fixed design,” says founder Max Gunawan. “This is lighting that is flexible, transformative but also playful.”  Former architect, Max, grew up in Jakarta, without the same luxuries afforded to his peers. As ever, the need informed a willingness to create his own diversions, making interactive objects that had many different purposes. Designing the Lumio made him reflect back on his childhood, and the philosophy that “having less can sometimes lead to bigger things.”
